Designed to support the rhythms of a couple with grown up children, this extensive ground floor renovation in this North West London home transformed a traditional layout into a contemporary, open-plan home centred around hosting their large family.
The brief was to create a highly functional yet characterful space that could comfortably host a family while reflecting the clients' love of colour and personal style. A zinc-clad rear extension and green roof bring a contemporary architectural layer to the home, while new front and rear landscaping complete the transformation. It allowed the kitchen, dining and living areas to flow seamlessly into one another, creating a bright and sociable heart of the home.
The kitchen was designed as the heart of the house, with generous workspace and considered detailing to support both everyday family life and hosting large gatherings. Complemented by a dedicated utility room and walk-in pantry to maximise storage and practicality. Every material was selected with busy family living in mind, balancing durability with refined aesthetics through wipeable finishes, hardwearing surfaces and stain-resistant fabrics to create a home that is beautiful, durable and genuinely family-friendly.
Throughout the interiors, bespoke open shelving and display areas were thoughtfully integrated to showcase the clients' treasured collections and thriving houseplants.A bold and joyful palette of colour was introduced through furniture, fabrics and lighting, balanced with natural timber, soft green cabinetry and tactile finishes.
The project also included a complete upgrade of the home's infrastructure, with underfloor heating, air conditioning and a new garden drainage system. Externally, both the front and rear gardens were reimagined with contemporary landscaping and a generous patio, creating a seamless connection between the interior living spaces and the outdoors.
The result is a welcoming family home that effortlessly combines contemporary design, practical functionality, and a rich sense of personality.
