Pimlico House

This project transformed a tired London house into a warm, comfortable and highly functional home for a busy travelling couple. The brief centred on upgrading both the architecture and the day-to-day experience of the house. The existing drawing room felt cold and uninviting. The clients also required two dedicated home offices, his and hers, to support flexible working.

A comprehensive refurbishment focused on improving the building fabric and elevating the interior character. Single-glazed windows were replaced with high-performance double glazing for french windows and sash. New cornices and wall panelling were introduced to enrich the architectural shell, creating a more refined backdrop that balances period detailing with contemporary living.

The rear kitchen, previously compromised by unattractive neighbouring views, was completely reimagined as an open-plan kitchen and dining space designed for entertaining and socialising. A bespoke shelving system was positioned in front of the window to screen the outlook while maintaining light and openness.

To address the dark entrance hall, a section of wall was removed and replaced with a fire-rated Crittall-style screen, allowing natural light to penetrate deep into the centre of the house while meeting safety requirements.

The drawing room was connected to the husband's study, enhancing the feeling of space and creating a sense of luxury rarely found in London homes. Throughout the interiors, contemporary furniture was selected for comfort and longevity, while voile curtains soften daylight and provide privacy without sacrificing light.

New bathrooms were introduced on every floor, and the entire home was updated with modern technology and infrastructure.

The result is a confident, quietly luxurious home that blends old and new seamlessly. A warm, personal and comfortable retreat designed around the lifestyle of its owners. Every space now feels purposeful, welcoming and calm, offering a sanctuary from the demands of frequent travel while supporting both work and entertaining with equal ease.

"In short, Andrew, Chris, Hannah, and Lara were a first-class team. The entire project was managed professionally and, crucially, came in on budget. We highly recommend them."
